Profile

Miranda is a PhD student in the English department studying eighteenth- and nineteenth-century English literature. Her research centers on disability in this literature and focuses on questions such as, how do conceptualizations of disability and race inform each other during this period? How does the transatlantic exchange of bodies and ideas inform these conceptualizations? And how does eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Utopian literature address, or fail to address, disability and race in its attempts to imagine a more just society? When not searching for the answers to such questions, Miranda can be found reading for fun, doting on her two cats, doing yoga, or (successfully) convincing her students that writing is an invaluable skill no matter their field or future profession.
