Profile
Sally Hansen is a Ph.D. student in the University of Notre Dame’s English Department. Her work explores musicality, materiality, and the inexpressible in lyric poetry, using critical trauma studies and phenomenological writing to unpack formation and fracture of identity, perception, and language. The poetry, poetics, and spiritualities of Gerard Manley Hopkins, H.D., Susan Howe, and Claudia Rankine, among others, center these studies in the impulses of theodicy and testimony.
She plans to pursue further study in the history of religions in the U.S., colonialism, and race theory, focusing on East Coast contact zones and the theological/literary structures of domination, revival, and liberation.
