What can the Writing Program do for you?

The University Writing Program will prepare you for communication in academic, civic, and professional contexts. Whether you take our Writing and Rhetoric and Tutorial courses, or you discuss your work one-on-one at the Writing Center, you will emerge from the Writing Program better equipped to:

  • Argue your positions clearly and powerfully

  • Advocate for causes you believe in

  • Think critically and complexly about culture and society’s many rhetorical influences

  • Work creatively and collaboratively with others

  • Navigate the rapidly evolving world of information

  • Engage ethically in our democratic society

Our students write op-eds, win research awards, and publish in internationally recognized journals. They go on to be doctors, scientists, lawyers, teachers, politicians, and artists. They become community advocates and cultural leaders.

The University Writing Program shapes the educational experience of nearly every Notre Dame student.
