Karla (GRAD)

Hello! I'm Karla, an English PhD student, Writing and Rhetoric Instructor, LASER graduate participant, and Joseph Gaia Distinguished Fellow in Latino Studies here at the University of Notre Dame. My research examines Latinx literature at the intersection of health, religion, education, and sustainability, with a focus on how latinidad shapes narratives of labor, wellness, spirituality, and ecojustice in the hyper-contemporary. I am also a poet exploring illness, myth, and sacrifice in the experiences of migrant farmworkers across the United States with poems published in magazines like Poetry Northwest, The Acentos Review, Palette Poetry, and Huizache.
